Locust

The Ground Control Audio Locust is a high-gain distortion and fuzz pedal featuring two silicon transistor gain stages preceded by a JFET input buffer. Its circuit produces heavily saturated distortion with fuzz-like characteristics, complemented by a mid-scooping filter designed to shape the low-midrange response. The filter offers two selectable scoop-depth modes for different levels of midrange attenuation. Four controls provide adjustment of the sound: Volume sets the overall output level, Gain determines the signal level feeding the distortion stages, Depth adjusts the intensity of the low-midrange notch, and Tone shifts the center frequency of the low-midrange filter. The combination of transistor saturation and adjustable midrange filtering allows the pedal to produce aggressive, dense distortion with varying degrees of tonal emphasis.
