The Benson Delay is a digital delay pedal built around the PT2399 delay chip, designed to deliver warm, degraded repeats inspired by vintage tape echoes and bucket-brigade delays. It offers a wide delay-time range from 30 ms to 1250 ms, covering chorus, vibrato, slapback, standard delay, and ambient soundscape applications. A versatile modulation section provides adjustable LFO speed and depth, with selectable sine, square, and random waveforms for tape-like warble, flutter, and other modulation effects. Tap tempo is included, with selectable quarter-note, dotted-eighth, and eighth-note subdivisions. Holding the Tap/Hold switch increases feedback for controllable self-oscillation effects. The circuit combines the PT2399 with analog filtering, companding, and carefully tuned gain staging to create smooth delay-time transitions and musical repeat degradation. Example settings include Slapback, Warbly Delay, Orbit, Chorus, Lo-Fi Compressor, and Tape Echo.
