Broadcast Dual Foot Switch Regent

The Hudson Electronics Broadcast Dual Footswitch is a transformer-coupled, discrete Class-A germanium preamp and overdrive based on 1960s broadcast console circuitry. It expands on the original Broadcast by adding footswitchable low- and high-gain modes, each with its own independent level control. Using a Triad steel-core transformer and a germanium transistor, the pedal ranges from clean boost and low-gain overdrive to heavier distortion. As gain increases, the transformer and discrete circuitry begin to saturate, producing compression, harmonic enrichment, and midrange thickening. The high-gain mode can deliver warmer, fuzz-tinged distortion while retaining dynamic response to picking attack and guitar volume changes. Internal trimmers allow independent adjustment of the gain available in each mode, making it possible to tailor the difference between the two footswitchable gain settings.
